After rehearsal, my MD (a lady), another choir member (a guy) and I were walking towards the school’s gate. Somehow, we entered the relationship waters, and my MD went all “I love long term relationship. I love having to say, ‘I’ve known him for seven years.’”
Me, I couldn’t fathom it. If you know me, you shouldn’t be surprised when I replied that left to me, once the ring comes on, we’re only going to wait for two weeks to a month before getting married.
Yes, I hate long engagement 😂.
From there, we got talking about our love languages. (P.S, it was just MD and I that were doing most of the talking.😂)
When I mentioned my own love languages (nope, not gonna tell you 😂), the guy said to me, “so you can’t marry someone in the Navy?”
And I was like, “Navy? How?”😂 I told him that I’ve told God that I can’t do any relationship with anyone in the force.
Now, some of you will read this and be like, “that’s probably the person God is gonna give her.”
Because somewhere in a religious corner in our mind, we believe that God’s will is always direct opposite to what we will ask him.
Yes, sometimes what we ask for, he doesn’t give us. But that is because he has something much more better than what we asked for.
How will marrying a Navy man be better for me? To teach me trust? Don’t worry, I’ll learn trust married to my non-navy husband.😂
There was this day I was talking with God and I said, “God, please I want an expressive husband.” And God said, “okay.” Then I went all, “you’re joshing me, aren’t you?”
Do you know what God said?
He said, “what pleasure will it give me to give you a husband that is not expressive, knowing the kind of person I have created you to be?”
That shut me up immediately.
You see, God created us. He knows what is good for us. Stick with him and he’ll give you the desires of your heart, even desires that you had no idea that you had.
God is a good Father. One who delights himself in his children. He isn’t an African parent who simply to show you who is in control, will intentionally withhold what you asked for. God has no need to prove his sovereignty. He is sovereign, period.
But he is also love. And he is in love with you. With a crazy, mind-bungling love.
Jesus said to the pharisees, “which of you will his son ask for bread and will give him stone? If you wicked ones know how to give your children good gifts, how much more your heavenly Father who is good?”
God’s will for you is not direct opposite of everything you desire in life. God’s will will not suck the fun and pleasure out of your life. God’s will is good. God’s will is pure. God’s will is perfect, just for you.
Trust him, and you’d realize what he has in store for you is exceedingly, abundantly, above what you ever imagined.
